hello.
happy sunday, you gorgeously imperfect human.
I left my cave this week. went to a coffee, talked to people, sat
somewhere that wasn't my desk. nothing dramatic. just the ordinary
surprise of other humans existing around you, with their own
preoccupations and energy and particular way of moving through the world.
I forget, sometimes, how much of what I think I know about life is just
what I've been sitting with alone. the moment you step outside the loop of
your own thoughts, something recalibrates. the world is larger and
stranger than whatever you've been quietly narrating to yourself.
absorption is not the same as understanding. reading, thinking, planning:
none of it replaces contact with the actual world. action teaches
differently. you find out what you actually believe when you have to act
on it, and not a moment before.

Tim Ferriss on the one thing people miss when they're struggling: health
is the pillar everything else sits on. if you're down despite the

the listen.

only appears when you've been walking long enough to stop performing. I
want to do this pilgrimage. might actually do it.

OPENAI
ChatGPT Images 2.0, an image model that thinks before it
draws
OpenAI's new image model launched April 21. It reasons before it
generates: ask for a scene with specific text, an edit that leaves
the rest of the photo alone, or the same character appearing
consistently across multiple images and it works. Free for all
ChatGPT users. DALL-E 2 and 3 retire May 12, so anything built on
those needs to migrate.

OPENAI
ChatGPT for Clinicians, free AI for verified US doctors
Free ChatGPT for verified US doctors, launched this week. Separate
workspace with search across peer-reviewed studies, documentation
help, and CME credits. The tension worth noting: an independent
study tested five AI tools on 250 health questions the same week
and found they got almost half wrong. The product ships before the
science is settled.

OPENAI
Codex now has 3 million weekly developers and controls your
desktop
OpenAI's coding agent: describe what you want built, it writes the
code, runs tests, fixes errors, hands you the result. Three
million weekly developers, nearly double from two months ago. The
April 16 update added background multitasking and desktop control.
If you don't write code: this is the clearest picture of where all
knowledge work is heading.

Manus, the AI agent Meta acquired from a Chinese startup for
$2 billion in December, is now under investigation by
China's government. The founders reportedly cannot leave
until Beijing gets answers. In the race between the US and
China over AI, crossing sides turns out not to be a
neutral move.
